Buffalo Turkey Meatballs
This is a very easy recipe and its a perfect appetizer for your Super Bowl Party! I would usually make this with ground chicken, but they did not have any available my local store so I substituted with Turkey and they still taste delicious!
The Buffalo sauce was tasty, but try not to stand too close as its boiling or it will burn your eyes!
It took me about 25 minutes to complete the recipe, and is simple enough even for a beginner.
Ingredients for Meatballs:
2 lbs of ground chicken or turkey
4 - 5 tablespoons of minced garlic
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 1/4 cup of Panko Breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
Ingredients for Buffalo Sauce: (you will have extra sauce for dipping)
1 Cup of Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
sesame seeds for garnish
Pre-heat oven to 470 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small saucepan mix all the ingredients for the sauce and bring it to a boil. Once it has boiled for 2 minutes, reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes. The sauce will thicken up as it simmers.
In a separate bowl add the meatball ingredients and mix with your hands. Once you have mixed all the ingredients make about 3 inch balls, or the size of an ice cream scoop.
I ended up with about 23 meatballs. Space them evenly on the baking sheet and place in the oven for about 12 minutes. Cook for 12 minutes, take them out, brush buffalo sauce on the meatballs and finish in the oven for another 2-3 minutes. When done hit them with sauce on more time, sprinkle sesame seeds and enjoy!
** To keep meatballs warm during the party, keep them in a crock pot with some additional dipping sauce **
