Mussels Fra Diavolo
I love eating mussels because they are so simple to make, elegant and you get to eat it with a lot of bread! My favorite thing about mussels is the sauce or broth and just dipping the bread. This recipe is very easy to make and it can all be done in 30 minutes. You can make your own marinara or purchase your favorite one. You can serve this as an appetizer or a large group or it can easily serve 3-4 people.
¼ cup Olive Oil
5 Garlic Cloves, chopped
½ cup Shallots, chopped
1 1/2 cup Dry White Wine
½ teaspoon crush red pepper flakes
24oz Marinara Sauce
3 Lbs Mussels
3 tbsp chopped parsley, for garnish
Crusty Bread, for serving
In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add the shallots, garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1.5 minutes.
Add the white wine and boil until reduced by half, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the marinara sauce and lemon juice then bring to a simmer.
Stir in the mussels, cover and cook for about 6 minutes. Discard of any mussels that do not open.
Transfer mussels and sauce to a platter and garnish with parsley. Don’t forget to dip the bread in the sauce.
