Apple & Berries Crumble

For crumble topping:

  • 1 cup plain flour

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 unsalted butter

For the fruit compote:

  • 3oog Braeburn apples

  • 1/8 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/8 cup demerara sugar

  • 100g blackberries

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degree C.

  2. Take a large bowl, add flour, sugar and unsalted butter to it. Knead till you get a light breadcrumb texture.

  3. Over a baking sheet sprinkle the mixture. Bake it for 12 to 15 minutes.

  4. Peel and cut the apple into small pieces for the compote.

  5. In a pan melt the butter and sugar together over a medium heat for almost 2 to 3 minutes or until the mixture turns to a light caramel.

  6. Add the diced apples to it and cook it for 3 minutes, then add the blackberries and cinnamon and cook for 3 more minutes.

  7. After removing it from the heat, let it cook in the warmth of the pan for 2 more minutes.

  8. In a dish, spoon out the fruit and add the crumble mix on the top. Microwave it for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve it with home custard.
